According toDeadline,Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette, who starred inFreddy vs. Jason andRace to Witch Mountain,joined the cast in a recasting. The opportunity arose after actorJay Baruchelhad to exit the series for personal reasons.
Deadlinereported that the replacement comes after it was revealed that Baruchel joined the cast a few weeks ago. Rodriguez-Marquette will now play Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman. The role is no small part; it is supposedly meaty, which means the actor’scharacter should havea lot of camera time. Sources also told the publication that a notable part of the situation was that Rodriguez-Marquette was cast the same day as the breakdown for the role went out, and the actor was flown to the set within a few days. Fans and critics have high expectations forReacher’s fourth season, and remain positive about it, which will bean adaption of “Gone Tomorrow,” the thirteenth book in the Jack Reacher book series.

The new season will follow Jack Reacher (Ritchson) when an encounter with a distraught train passenger goes bad. As a result, he’s drawn into a “complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power,” according toDeadline. Othernew additions to the upcoming season’s cast include: Sydelle Noel (Black Panther,GLOW), Agnez Mo (Indonesian IdolSeason 6 Judge), Indonesian-French singer Anggun, Kevin Corrigan (Goodfellas), Kevin Weisman (Alias,Suits LA), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, First Daughter), and Kathleen Robertson (Beverly Hills, 90210).
The Prime Video series was created by Nick Santora, who also serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Although Jack Reacher has high combative and investigative experience as a former U.S. Army military police major, he prefers to live life as a drifter, hopping from location to location across the U.S., battling dangerous criminals who he crosses paths with. The show debuted on Prime Video in February 2022, and received praise almost instantly.Reacherhas a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score and its most recent season, the third, became the most-watched returning series ever for the streamer.

When a series becomes popular and keeps that status, the opportunities for spin-offs are endless. In 2024, Prime Video decided to expandReacher’s universe with aspin-off starring Maria Sten, who will reprise her fan-favorite role of Frances Neagley. At the time, the project didn’t have a title, but Deadline suspected it could be calledNeagley.The character is a private investigator in Chicago and a former military colleague of Jack Reacher. Neagley wants justice for the death of a friend from her past and goes on a dangerous journey, uncovering a lot in her path.Alan Ritchson is expectedto make guest appearances on the show as his character.
