Yesterday, we showed you a fan-madetrailer remixforRogue One: A Star Wars Story, which features the iconicBeastie Boyssong “Sabotage.” It seems that another artist decided to pay tribute to thisStar Warsspinoff as well, with two new posters surfacing from artistOrlando Arocena. While these posters aren’t official, they have quickly gone viral, since this poster is essentially a tribute to the poster forStanely Kubrick’sFull Metal Jacket.
Orlando Arocenafirst debuted these posters on Twitter, and they have quickly spread throughout the Internet, with many fans praising these designs. Instead of the standard military helmet from theFull Metal Jacketposter, this artist offers two different variations, one with a Rebel pilot helmet and another helmet worn byFelicity Jones’Jyn Erso. Here’s what the artist had to say on a statement from hisBehancegallery website.
“Back in 2015 i was excited to hear the news about a potentialStar Wars Rogue Onestory being developed, and directed byGareth Edwards. I was very happy to read how the story would be more set within a military, covert ops thematic. A year later and after a few trailers. I’m back to pay tribute with a parody. I decided to pay reverence to one of my favorite wartime movies,Stanley Kubrick’s,Full Metal Jacketand the artist who created that films iconic artwork, Philip Castle, by visually combining the intensity and fighting spirit of the Rebellion in a new vector tribute.”
The new posters replace the “Born to Kill” message on theFull Metal Jackethelmet with “Born to Rebel.” Fans can purchase these posters on the artist’s official site, although we couldn’t find any pricing details on the site. With four months left until the movie hits theaters, hopefully he’ll be creating even more posters for this highly-anticipatedStar Wars spinoff.
