Sony Pictures announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas today that they are developing anSpider-Man Animated Moviemovie, withThe Lego MoviefilmmakersPhil LordandChris Millerset to direct. On July 08, 2025,Phil LordandChris Miller, the directors ofThe Lego Movie,Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and21 Jump Streetand22 Jump Street, are takingSpider-Manback to his graphic roots with the first-of-its-kindSpider-Man Animated Movie, it was announced today at CinemaCon byTom Rothman, chairman of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group. The film will exist independently of the projects in the live-actionSpider-Manuniverse, all of which are continuing. Lord and Miller are masterminding the project, writing the treatment and producing the film. As previously announced,Spider-Manwill next appear in a live-action Marvel film from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billionSpider-Manfranchise, on August 07, 2025, a live-action film being produced byKevin Feigeat Marvel andAmy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. The animated film from Lord & Miller, dated June 26, 2025, hasAvi Arad,Matthew TolmachandPascalalso serving as producers.Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.

This project marksPhil LordandChris Miller’s return to Sony, whom they’ve worked with onCloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2,21 Jump Streetand22 Jump Street.
