Star Trekfans have been finding out when some of the highest-rated shows in the franchise’s history are returning to Paramount+, and the latest of these is the highly acclaimedStar Trek: Strange New Worlds. While it was always known that the show, led byAnson Mountas USS Enterprise captain Christopher Pike, would be returning in summer 2025, there are some fans who will be disappointed that it is not debuting until July 17 – a whole month after the first episode will be premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 14.
Everything We Know About Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3
The third season of the newest Star Trek series is back in production after strike delays. What can viewers expect to see?
Star Trek: Strange New Worldsis the highest-rated show in the franchise, with a near-perfect 98% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. This puts it narrowly ahead ofthe animated series,Star Trek: Prodigyon 97%, which itself was given a Season 3 premiere date earlier this week. The synopsis for the new season reads:

“In season three, when we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike, they face the conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve. An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, season three takes characters both new and beloved to new heights, and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy, and mystery, with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek.”
‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Will Resolve Season 2’s Cliffhanger Ending
Star Trek: Strange New Worldsended its second season with a huge cliffhanger that left fans desperate to see the show return. The Season 2 finale saw Pike having to decide whether to rescue his crew from the Gorn, or follow his orders and retreat. There is no doubt that his decision will lead to consequences one way or the other, and it is clear that his choice will set the course for Season 3’s 10-episode storyline.
The only problem is that many fans will probably not get to see Pike make that decision, and will instead see spoilers about it online long before the series returns to Paramount+.The premiere of the Season 3 opener at the Tribeca Film Festivalwill clearly not be contained to the event, and while the footage may not end up leaking online, comments and conversations about it certainly will. Although trailers have already hinted that there will be surprising deaths of any crew members in the opening episode, there are still many who would prefer to see the resolution of Season 2’s cliffhanger first-hand for themselves, but may not get the chance.
