You may have heard thatStar Wars: The Force Awakensdescended uponComic-Contoday for a panel presentation inHall H. All that we knew going into the panel was that directorJ.J. Abrams, producer and LucasFilm presidentKathleen Kennedyand screenwriterLawrence Kasdanwould be present to discuss the highly-anticipated sequel, with the tantalizing tease of “special guests” also showing up. What we didn’t know is that the entire main cast would arrive, withJohn Boyega,Daisy Ridley,Oscar Isaac,Domhnall Gleeson,Gwendoline Christie,Carrie Fisher,Mark HamillandHarrison Fordtaking to the SDCC stage, with the filmmakers also presenting a wonderful three-minute behind-the-scenes video from the set.
The video gave us our first official look atCarrie Fisher’sPrincess Leia, who has not been featured in the first two trailers released thus far. The video also confirmed a long-believed rumor thatSimon Pegg, who starred in three ofJ.J. Abrams' previous movies (Mission: Impossible III,Star TrekandStar Trek Into Darkness) does in fact have a role inStar Wars: The Force Awakens. Judging by the costume he’s seen wearing, it seems that we won’t get to see his face when the movie hits theaters.

We also got our first look atWarwick Davis, although he is seen out of costume and it isn’t clear who he is playing, although he confirmed his involvement in the sequel last year. It was also confirmed at the panel that the third trailer won’t debut until this fall, which means that there may not be aStar Wars: The Force Awakenspresence at Disney’s D23 panel next month. While we wait for more information to come in, check out this terrific behind-the-scenes video, as we count down the days toStar Wars: The Force Awakens' December 18 release.
