A few months afterSuicide Squadstarted production in Toronto, starJai Courtneyrevealed that his co-starJared Letohad remained in character the entire time asThe Joker. The first trailer revealed at Comic Con gave us our first look at Jared Leto’s maniacal character, and we’ll surely see a lot more of him as we get closer and closer to the August, 5, 2016 release date. While promoting his first new song in 10 years,Will Smithdecided to chimed in on Jared Leto’s method acting ways, revealing he never actually met the actor out of character during the whole time he was on the set in Toronto.

“[Suicide Squad] is insane. I’ve never actually metJared Leto. We worked together for 6 months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of ‘Action!’ and ‘Cut!’ I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be ‘Hey, Jared. What’s up?’ He was all in on the Joker.”

Jared Letojoked during a Q&A session for his popular band 30 Seconds to Mars, that he will be “locked away in a box” for his bizarre performance as The Joker inSuicide Squad. There isn’t much we know about The Joker inSuicide Squadyet, but it has been rumored that he spends much of the movie locked inside a cell inAmanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) special prison. We did see, though, in several videos and photos from the set that The Joker andHarley Quinn(Margot Robbie) will have a scene driving through town withBatman(Ben Affleck) hanging on to the roof of The Joker’s exotic sports car.

The ensemble cast includesWill Smith(Deadshot),Margot Robbie(Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker),Jai Courtney(Boomerang),Joel Kinnaman(Rick Flagg),Cara Delevingne(Enchantress),Viola Davis(Amanda Waller),Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje(Killer Croc), andJay Hernandez(El Diablo).Scott EastwoodandRay Olubowalealso appear in the movie, but their characters have not been revealed. Jared Leto’s turn as The Joker next summer will come just eight years after we last saw the character on screen, portrayed by the lateHeath Ledgerin 2008’sThe Dark Knight. That performance is seen by many as the definitive portrayal of The Joker, but we’ll have to wait and see how fans respond to Jared Leto’s performance.
