Back in July, during their Comic-Con presentation,Supernaturalexecutive producersRobert SingerandAndrew Dabbannounced that musicianRick Springfieldhas come aboard to playLuciferin Season 12. Today we have new photos from the second episode of Season 12, featuringRick Springfield’s rock star character named Vince Vicente, who has become the new vessel for the Devil. We also have new photos of the Winchester Brothers' long-lost mother Mary (Samantha Smith).
During the Comic-Con panel, executive producerRobert Singerstated that Lucifer will try out “different vessels” throughout the season, with the first being this “washed up aging rock star” named Vincent Vicente, played byRick Springfield. While we still don’t quite know how Lucifer will interact with theWinchester Brothers, executive producerAndrew DabbtoldTV Linethat The Devil realizes he has free reign on Earth. Here’s what he had to say below.

“‘God’s gone. I have a free playing field here. I could go take over heaven or hell, but is that what I really want?’ What he discovers is that, in some ways, God had the right idea. Worship is fun. Having people worship you, it’s a good time. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of baggage with the name Lucifer, let’s put it that way. So for him, popping into someone like the rock star Vince Vincente, it allows him experience that almost God-like worship.”
We know that theSupernatural Season 12premiere will pick up right where the Season 11 finale cliffhanger left off. The season ended as Dean (Jensen Ackles) found his mother Mary (Samantha Smith) alive in the woods, wearing the same nightgown she had on the night she supposedly died. The cliffhanger also showed Sam (Jared Padalecki) being seemingly shot by Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore), a member of the London Men of Letters.
