Every Marvel movie brings with it hundreds of fan theories about what could happen and who could appear.Thor: Love and Thundermay seem like a more run-of-the-mill MCU movie, without the multiverse to contend with and most of its main players already known. However, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a number of theories running wild on the internet, and directorTaika Waititiloves nothing better than trolling fans who create them.
As the premiere ofThor: Love and Thunderhas brought the first reactions to Marvel’s latest cinematic offering, Waititi appeared onThe Late Show With Stephen Colbertand addressed how he likes to handle fan-theories that have been made around movie. Speaking to the host, Waititi explained how he has a great time trolling fans about their hopes and beliefs about the film’s plot, characters and outcome. He said:

“I like to listen to the fans and then I like to troll the fans back a bit, because it just brings me some little bit of joy. Just a little bit. I don’t have many joys in my life, y’know, I’ve got my kids and trolling fans. But I like… when I did [Thor: Ragnarok], there were a few people who didn’t know what I did and what I’d done before, and they said, ‘Aw, he’s gonna ruin this! He’s gonna ruin Thor!’ And I would write back ‘Oh, I’m gonna ruin it alright. Oh, a hundred percent, I’m gonna ruin it for you.’ And then I would say things like ‘You don’t know what you want until I give it to you’ and stuff like that. I know, I know, it’s rude – but it’s true.”

Chris Hemsworth Has Promised Answers In Thor: Love and Thunder
While the specifics of the plot have yet to be revealed, we know enough aboutThor: Love and Thunderto raise questions about the reappearance ofJane Foster and her transformation into The Mighty Thor. Chris Hemsworth previously addressed how the movie will give fans the answers they have been wanting about Jane and Thor’s relationship. He said:
“I mean, I started this journey with her [Portman], playing opposite her in the first film and to reunite now and have Jane being in a very different place and also Thor having to be in a different place. It was a lot of fun and, you know, we got a chance to sort of answer some of the unanswered questions that we left the second film with when they parted. We didn’t really know what actually happened. Did she dump him? Did he dump her? Who left who? Etcetera. So we had a lot of fun answering those questions.”
Natalie Portman’s return to the franchise has brought a lot of praise in early reviews, as has the addition of Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe as Zeus. How everything ties together in the movie is something that most people will need to wait and find out when the film opens on July 8.
