Ghostface will have his/her choice of characters to question about their favorite scary movies whenScream 7finally hits theaters in February 2026. Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott and Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers are the only two living survivors from director Wes Craven’s 1996 film returning. However, Woodsboro’s masked serial killer will come up against plenty of new blood, too, including the film’s newest addition,Landmanand1923’sfan-favorite star,Michelle Randolph.
It’s unclear who Randolph will portray in the latestScreaminstallment, but she will be rubbing elbows with some of the horror franchise’s crème de la crème. In addition to Campbell and Cox, several other actors from earlier entries are returning for another go-round with Ghostface — even though their respective characters are presumably dead — more on that shortly.

Classic ‘Scream’ Star Has a Hilarious Pitch for His Long-Awaited Franchise Return in ‘Scream 7’
Well, that’s one way he can come back.
Randolph currently portrays Jack Dutton’s (Darren Mann) wife, Elizabeth Strafford, in1923,which is the immensely popularYellowstoneprequel series starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Randolph also pulls double duty by playing a different character (Ainsley Norris) on another of creator Taylor Sheridan’s shows,Landman. She is the teenage daughter of the protagonist, Tommy Norris, who is portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton.
Stacking the Cast in ‘Scream 7’s Favor
The news broke back in March 2024 thatNeve Campbell would reprise the role of Sidney PrescottinScream 7after sitting out the last sequel in 2023 due to a salary dispute. Fans also learned that the franchise’s creator, Kevin Williamson, was returning to direct the highly anticipated film, but die-hard enthusiasts were also patiently waiting to see if the only other remaining survivor from the originalScream(1996) would also be joining the highly anticipated flick.
Several months passed, but in December 2024, sources finally confirmed that Courteney Cox would reprise her role as Gale Weathers inScream 7. Then Matthew Lillard creatively announced his return on social media the following January as he scribbled out his famous “my mom and dad” quote from the firstScream,in which he played the now-deceased Stu Macher. Stu was infamously one of the two killers dressing up as Ghostface in Wes Craven’s must-see classic. The other, of course, was Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich).

Ulrich famously reprised his killer character inScream(2022) andScream VI,even though Billy Loomis bit the bullet nearly 30 years ago. However, that still doesn’t explain how not only Stu is going to return, but alsoScream 3actor Scott Foley, who portrayed Roman Bridger, a.k.a. the third film’s now-deceased Ghostface.
The most recent piece of casting news came back on Mar. 4, confirming that fan-favoriteDavid Arquette would be a part ofScream 7even though his beloved Deputy Dewey was inexplicably murdered in the 2022 legacy sequel. Also, despite the loss of Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera,ScreamandScream VI’sMason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown are both reprising their roles.

Plus, along with all the wonderful OGs being brought back for the newScream,a talented pool of newcomers are joining the film. Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Ethan Embry, Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, and even Mark Consuelos ofLive with Kelly and Markfame have all been confirmed for the sequel.Scream 7hits theaters on Jul 04, 2025.
