After Warner Bros. announced their DC Extended Universe (DCEU) slate back in October 2014, the studio made it clear that this universe would be separate from the DC TV universe, where shows like The CW’sArrowandThe Flashare currently thriving. The studio castEzra Milleras Barry Allen inThe Flashmovie, which is currently set for release on June 17, 2025, although no other actors have been announced yet. Today we have a new, yet unconfirmed report, which claims that the studio is actively casting five important supporting roles, which will be quite familiar to fans of both the CW TV show and the comics alike. Naturally, there will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.
Today’s report comes fromHeroic Hollywood, which claims that actresses are already testing for the one female role on this list right now in Los Angeles. Oddly enough, while the movie and TV universes are being kept separate, the site’s sources claimed that the casting breakdowns sound quite similar to the story told in the first season of The CW’sThe Flash. With that being said, the five roles currently being cast by Warner Bros. are Iris West, Eobard Thawne, Fred Chyre, Len Snart and Jay Garrick.
In this movie, Iris West is a reporter for TheCentral CityCitizen who is described as an “overcaffinated doe” with the brains ofChristiane Amanpourand the style ofCarrie Bradshaw. Iris is a journalist in both the DC Comics and The CW TV series, so it seems the film is sticking close to her roots, but there is no mention in the casting breakdown about whether or not she isBarry Allen’s girlfriend. Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, is said to be Central City’sBill Gates, the smartest man in town who suffers from a degenerative disease and is confined to a wheelchair.
Fred Chyre is the only character listed in this breakdown that doesn’t appear onThe Flash TV series. Fred is said to be a gruff detective who becomes Barry’s only friend after they meet at a crime scene. Fred is also investigating a mysterious death at Thawne Laboratories. Len Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold, is described as an ex-military soldier who is now working for Thawne. The report claims that Snart could be the “muscle” for Thawne in the same way that Anatoli Knyazev, a.k.a. KGBeast, was the muscle for Lex Luthor inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The final character, Jay Garrick, is said to only have acameo appearanceinThe Flash. The breakdown describes Garrick as a former Central University professor who was fired for his work in fringe sciences and with the speed force. Since he will only have a cameo appearance, it remains to be seen if there are plans to bring him in forJustice League Part 2, which is set for release on June 05, 2025. Previous reports claimed that Ray Fisher will be co-starring inThe Flashmovie as Cyborg. That has not been confirmed at this time.
