The second trailer for Guy Ritchie’sThe Gentlemenhas arrived. The highly anticipated movie hits theaters next month and brings the director back to familiar territory. Ritchie took a breather from his usual projects and helmed Disney’s live-action version ofAladdin. While fans of the iconic animated original were not into what they were seeing, the movie proved to be a massive box office success globally. Now, Ritchie is up to his old tricks and one would never assume this was the same guy that madeAladdin.

The Gentlemen, which has been described as a sophisticated action comedy, follows American expat Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he’s looking to cash out of the business forever it triggers plots, schemes, bribery, and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him (featuring an all-star ensemble cast including Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant).

The Gentlemen traileris made up of some action-packed scenes with Matthew McConaughey going off the rails. A gang war is preparing to unfold in front of our eyes and it appears that there is going to be a lot of bloodshed by the time all of the dust has settled. As for the cinematography, it very much looks like a Guy Ritchie movie and there’s plenty of dark humor to go around. This is very much a callback to the director’s days before getting into the Hollywood blockbusters, recallingLock, Stock and Two Smoking BarrelsandSnatch.

In addition to the latest trailer forThe Gentlemen, we have been treated to character spots too. All of the main characters get their own 30-second spotlight, which gives even more of a closer look at the upcoming movie. As is the case with mostGuy Ritchie movies, they are rich in character building. Even some of the smaller characters come with elaborate backstories andThe Gentlemenlooks like it will carry on that tradition. It’s going to be interesting to see how Ritchie’s latest movie compares with some of his older material.
