Action movie megastarDwayne “The Rock” Johnsonrecently teased a mysterious video game adaptation, and a new report claims to have solved that mystery. Coming courtesy ofGiant Freakin Robot, the report claims that The Rock is getting ready to bring the world ofCall of Dutyto the big screen.
According to their “trusted and proven inside source,” Johnson is now in talks to lead aCall of Dutymovie, and while the report goes on to state that The Rock is just “in talks” at present, it is expected that those talks will “go through.” unfortunately, this is about all the information they have at this time, with the source unable “to confirm what the story will be” and thus which game the Call of Duty movie will use as inspiration.

The Rock first teased this mystery project last month, saying “I can’t tell you which game in particular we’re doing, but there will be an announcement this year. We’re going to bring one of the biggest, most badass games to the screen—one that I’ve played for years. I’m really excited to bring it to fans around the world.”
For those perhaps unaware,Call of Dutyis a first-person shooter video game franchise published by Activision, which began in 2003. Now one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, the series began with a focus on World War II, and games have since shifted their time setting from the Cold War to modern warfare and from futuristic worlds into outer space. ShouldCall of Dutybe the result of Johnson’s recent discussions, it isn’t easy to know which setting the movie would settle on. Without accidentally giving the studio ideas that fans would no doubt hate, could The Rock be sent on a war-torn adventure across time?
Whispers of aCall of Dutymovie have drifted around the ether before, with Activision announcing in 2015 that a cinematic universe was being planned. While news on the project has since gone quiet, it looks like the studio and The Rock have finally found a way to bring Call of Duty to theaters.
