Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has unveiled a new poster for his upcoming debut as DC antiheroBlack Adam. Along withthe release of the first trailerfor the comic book movie, The Rocktook to Twitterto reveal another look at his long, long, long-awaited superhero outing.

“The world needed a hero,” Johnson began in a caption alongside the poster, which shows the Hollywood superstar looking determined as ever to unleash justice. “It got Black Adam.” The Rock then took the opportunity once again to tease the huge impact that he expects Black Adam will have on theDC cinematic universesaying, “Hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change.”

Dwayne Johnsonhas been signed on to playBlack Adamfor years now. The actor has never once departed the project, determined throughout to bring the character to life on the big screen. Black Adam will introduce The Rock as Teth-Adam AKA Black Adam, a man from Kahndaq who was imprisoned for 5,000 years. Chosen by the wizard Shazam to harness the powers of the ancient Egyptian Gods, S for the stamina of Shu, H for the swiftness of Horus, A for the strength of Amon, Z for the wisdom of Zehuti, A for the power of Aten, and M for the courage of Mehen. Freed from his earthly tomb, Black Adam emerges ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Black Adam Will Introduce a Host of New Characters to the DCEU

The first live action outing forBlack Adamwill do far more than just introduce the title character to the DCEU. Alongside Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, the comic book origin story will also introduce the superhero team the Justice Society of America.

Also known as the JSA, the team will be comprised of Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, a member of the Justice Society of America who can control his molecular structure and manipulate his size and strength; Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, leader of the JSA and the reincarnation of an Egyptian prince who has the power of flight from his metal wings; Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel AKA Cyclone, the granddaughter of former hero Red Tornado who can control wind and generate sound; and Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson AKA Doctor Fate, the son of an archaeologist with a penchant for sorcery.

Additionally, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, Uli Latukefu, and Sarah Shahi round out the supporting cast.

Johnson recently praised the performance of Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, taking to social media to say “I think you’ll be happy with DR FATE, Pierce Brosnan is a force and really delivers.” Equally, Brosnan has returned the compliment saying, “It’s an ensemble piece, Black Adam. You have Dwayne, who’s at the pinnacle of his fame and fortune and success and popularity. He is magnificent as Black Adam.”
