It’s been 12 long years since theTwilightfranchise concluded withBreaking Dawn Part 2in 2012, but one thingeveryone still comments on are those darn sparkles. StarJackson Rathboneis no exception, who recently told an audience full of fans howRobert Pattinsonreallyfelt about becoming a sparkling vampire in the series. Rathbone starred alongside Pattinson inThe Twilight Sagaas Jasper Hale, the newest member of the Cullen family who can manipulate emotions andhas trouble sticking to their “vegetarian” diet of animal blood.

Appearing at Emerald City Comic Con earlier this year (viaPopVerse), Rathbonetold the audience in attendanceat theTwilightspotlight panel that – like most of us –Robert Pattinson hated those sparkles. He said that during testing they regularly made the actor“pissed off and angry”at having to be covered in glitter.

“They would doall the Twilight sparkle testing, so every once in a while you would see Rob [Pattinson] comeout of the makeup trailer completely pissed off and angry. Half his face is sparking super hard, the other half is a little sparkle. It’s like, ‘Mate, what’s going on?’”

Rathbone would go on to say that despite Pattinson’s annoyance,“we still had fun,”while also commenting on how it was the weather on any particular shooting day that would determinejust how much sparklingthe actors had to do. While Rathbone and his fellow co-stars would relish the chance for a bit of sunshine during the otherwise dreary production, he says it wasn’t an enjoyment for the crew, who would then have to apply a bunch of glitter.

“It went from being a rainy day to a bright sunny day, which is actually even worse, because if it’s sunny they’ve got to make us sparkle. It was one of those thingswhere the sun would come out, and we’d be like, ‘Yay!’ Except for production, ‘That’s screwing us even more!’”

What Is the Future of the Twilight Franchise?

Though the original film franchise ended in 2012 withBreaking Dawn Part 2,that doesn’t meanThe Twilight Sagais officially over. Quite the contrary, in fact, as it was announced in 2023 thata television reboot series is in developmentfrom Lionsgate. While it was initiallythought to be a live action show, it’s since been revealed thatit will be an animated series instead, a tidbit that Lionsgate left out of their original announcement, but say was the plan all along.

Whilethe project is still in the early stagesand faced delays thanks to the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes of 2023, it’s been reportedthat Sinead Daley is attached to write. Her past credits include Hulu’sTell Me Lies,The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Netflix’sThe Get Down. Stephanie Meyer, who authored the original novels,is also said to be involved in some capacity.
