Forget Disneyland’s new Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge theme park attraction. Where you really want to spend all your hard earned dough during vacation is Modelland, where anyone can be a model. It’s a new theme park that is being concocted byAmerica’s Top Modelhost and supermodel herselfTyra Banks.
Banks has been working in secret on the 21,000-square-foot fantasy modeling world which is being set up as aticketed theme park attraction. The first location will pop up in the Santa Monica Place shopping mall as an anchor store. And it’s expected to be fully operational this year. Though, a grand opening date has not been announced at this time.
Modellland is a theme park that has been a decade in the making. Tyra Banks has been toiling away on the endeavor thanks to funding and support from investors, andSanta Monica Placeshopping center owner/operator Macerich. This model-centric theme park will encompass a multilevel entertainment palace. People will be able to live the true model lifestyle, eating, shopping, and pretending to be a supermodel for a few precious hours. Men, women, children and pretty much everyone else are invited to come enjoy the interactive entertainment.
It’s not mentioned if dogs will be allowed. Though we assume a few purse dwelling Chihuahuas will show up on occasion. Tyra wants everyone to come and be the ‘dream version of themselves’. She had this to say in an announcement about the Modelland Theme Park
“It’s a permanent attraction anchoring the mall. I’m inspired by Disneyland, a place I went to a lot as a child. There is a storyline I have been working on for a year. Anybody can enter and feel like a model. It’s my calling to bring modeling to the masses. I createdTop Modelto expand the definition of beauty based on my own pain of being told ‘no’ that I couldn’t do something because I’m curvy or I’m black. My empathy for women in general increased through the experience. And now with Modelland, I’m taking it 10 steps forward, giving people the opportunity to engage with the elusive world by opening it up to everyone. Men, women, families, all generations can come and enter this model world for a day, have a fun shopping experience, and an eventful meal. This will be the first of many. This is bursting the door open and redefining what a model is. It’s all about inclusiveness.”
Tyra Banks is now focused on the launch of her own personal theme park. It was announced in December of last year that she would be leavingAmerica’s Next Top Modelas host, taking on some new television projects in the near future.
