In exactly one week, fans will see a new generation of Griswold’s journey to Walley World in New Line Cinema’sVacationreboot. The studio has released a secondred band trailerwhich makes it clear that this is definitely not a “family-friendly” trip, chocked full of R-rated language, most of which comes from the youngest cast member. We’ve seen in the previous trailers that there is a unique reversal of the sibling dynamic, with the younger brother Kevin (Steele Stebbins) bullying his older, more sensitive brother James (Skyler Gisondo). This trailer takes the bullying to a new level, in hilarious fashion, with Kevin physically abusing the bigger James and even threatening to shoot him off a horse.
The next generation of Griswolds is at it again-and on the road for another ill-fated adventure. Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons with a cross- country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,“Walley World. In the originalVacation, Walley World was closed when the Griswold’s arrive, but we’ll have to wait and see if this plot device will be used again in the remake.
ThisVacation traileralso gives us a glimpse at Debbie’s wild past, who realizes she’s been “idolized” by a group of college girls for her hard-partying ways. We also see a river rafting excursion that goes terribly wrong and the Griswold’s strange encounter with another family, which shows how much workEd Helms' Rusty needs on his “comebacks.” If this new footage is any indication, this R-ratedroad tripwill certainly be a memorable one.
The supporting cast is rounded out byChris Hemsworth,Leslie Mann,Charlie Day,Elizabeth Gillies,Kaitlin Olson,Keegan Michael Key,Regina Hall,Nick Kroll,Samm LevineandTim Heidecker.Chevy ChaseandBeverly D’Angeloalso reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Grisworld from the original Vacation. New Line has yet to announce a sequel, but provided the reboot is successful when it hits theaters, a follow-up announcement will likely come in the days and weeks that follow.
