The fall TV season is officially in full swing, with several new and returning shows hitting the airwaves. But we still have a few more weeks before the ratings juggernautThe Walking Deadis back. To get fans ready for theSeason 6premiere,First Time Again,AMChas released a new preview, where the cast and producers offer new insight into this explosive season. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group found a new home in Alexandria last season, but it seems clear that even in this idyllic place, shut off from thezombie-infested world around them, they still aren’t completely safe.
Season 5ofThe Walking Deadsaw our group being formed into consummate survivors by the world around them… nearly making some of them into villains. To make it as far as they have - to have persevered through all of their heartbreaking challenges - they have evolved into incredibly powerful people. But who have they become? The last five episodes ofSeason 5answered that question with Rick accepting an approach of unapologetic brutality.
The Walking Dead Season 6starts with Alexandria’s safety shattered by multiple threats. To make it, the people of Alexandria will need to catch up with our survivors' hardness, while many of Rick’s people will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they’ve needed to embrace. These reversals won’t happen easily, or without conflict. But now, Rick’s group is fighting for something more than survival… They’re fighting for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat, even if that threat comes from within.
This video starts with the iconic moment from theSeason 5finale, where Rickkilledthe wife-beating doctor Pete (Corey Brill), just after Pete usedMichonne’s sword to kill Reg (Steve Coulter), the wife of Alexandria leader Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh). As we’ve seen in previously-released trailers, there are some in Alexandria who don’t have the same amount of trust in Rick that Deanna does, with producersGreg Nicoteroand Denise M. Huth revealing that Alexandrians must adapt to Rick’s ways, since they aren’t familiar with surviving.
Seth Gilliam(Father Gabriel Stokes) reveals that forming a community takes compromise, but he doesn’t believe that Rick is willing to compromise one bit, which will certainly lead to plenty of conflict. We also hear fromLennie James, who returns as Rick’s old friend Morgan, whileNorman Reedusteases the threats that emerge this season will come from places that fans won’t expect.
