Everyone knowsNorman Reedusas Daryl Dixon fromThe Walking Dead, and while we are all awaiting to see who “Lucille” decided to pick on at the end of season 6, he is keeping himself busy.Reedusis currently out promoting his new showRide With Norman Reedusand as it turns out, there is another comic book character he may want to play. When the subject came up,Reedussaid that he would like to take on the role ofGhost Rider.
Reeduswas doing an interview withUproxxabout his new show which will be airing on AMC starting on June 12 and at the end of the interview, the subject of aGhost Rider rebootcame up. He was asked point blank if he would like to take on the role of Johnny Blaze and was very enthusiastic about the prospect. Here is whatReedushad to say about the hypothetical opportunity.
“Hell yeah. It would be a blast. Do I get askull facethat’s on fire and all that stuff? Fuck yeah. I’m down.”
Reedusclearly didn’t hesitate and his answer was short, sweet and to the point. He also acknowledged theNicolas Cageversion of the character and said that he liked it.Cageof course was the first to bring the character to the big screen withGhost Riderand the maligned sequelGhost RIder: Spirit of Vengeance. This was long before Marvel Studios was schooling the rest of Hollywood on how to bring their properties to life and since the lastGhost Riderfilm, the studio has regained the rights to the character, so aMarvel rebootis very possible.
Reedus' new showRideis all about his love ofmotorcyclesand will be highlighting that culture, so theGhost Riderthing seemed like a natural question. Not only that, but the actor has a history of being in comic book related stuff, of course withThe Walking Deadand perhaps some have forgotten that he played Scud inGuillermo Del Toro’sBlade II. It doesn’t hurt thatReeudsknows how to handle a motorcycle and has the Johnny Blaze look down.
For those who may not know,Ghost Riderfollows the character of Johnny Blaze, a stunt biker who had to sell his soul to Satan to save his father’s life. As a result, at night Blaze turns into a hellfire consumed super being namedGhost Riderwho punishes evil doers. Rumors surfaced recently that Marvel Studios was looking to expand its Netflix lineup andGhost Riderwas amont the properties that were rumored to maybe be heading to the streaming service alongsideDaredevilandJessica Jones. Marvel hasn’t officially stated any plans for the character but if they are going to rebootGhost Rider, it is a sure bet thatReeduswill at least be getting a phone call.
