It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen any footage from Legendary’s highly-anticipatedWarcraft, which is shaping up to be one of this year’s biggest movies, opening on June 10. The studio released a newTV spotin November, but we haven’t seen anything from this video game adaptation since then. Earlier today, the studio released another TV spot with brand new footage that showcases the magical land of Azeroth and the battle between the Horde and the Alliance, which aired during the NFL Playoffs.

The peaceful realm ofAzerothstands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders.Orc warriorsare fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in whichwarhas many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce. Warcraft will go up against a pair of sequels, New Line’sThe Conjuring: The Enfield Poltergeistand Lionsgate’sNow You See Me 2: The Second Act.

Video game adaptations have consistently under-performed at the box office throughout the years, with only one movie,Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, which earned $131.1 million back in 2001. While we still have a long wait for Warcraft, it seems likely that it could be the highest-grossing video game adaptation, paving the way for other highly-anticipated movies such asAssassin’s Creed, starringMichael Fassbender, andSplinter Cell, which hasTom Hardyset to star.
