Marvel’s first Phase 3 movieCaptain America: Civil Warhit theaters exactly one month ago today, and it has already become the top-grossing movie of the year. Thesuperhero adventurehas already earned $388.9 million domestically and $1.1 billion worldwide after just one month in theaters. This beloved movie served as an introduction to two iconic heroes in the MCU,Chadwick Boseman’sBlack PantherandTom Holland’sSpider-Man, but it seems thatBlack Pantheralmost had a much different look.

New concept art has surfaced through designerJerad S. Marantz’sBlogspotpage, which showcases an early look at T’challa’s iconic costume inCaptain America: Civil War, which some already believe is thebest Marvel movieyet. As you can see in the artwork below, the design is quite similar to the final costume, although there are still plenty of differences. For example, this artwork shows how the intricate lines on the suit help enhance his muscular physique, helping him look much more like an actual panther than a human in asuperhero costume.

Chadwick Bosemanwill return with his stand aloneBlack Panthermovie, which is scheduled for release on June 03, 2025.Ryan Cooglerhas recently come aboard to direct and rewrite the script originally written byJoe Robert Cole(American Crime Story). Production is scheduled to begin in early 2017, although nothing has been revealed about the story at this point. Fans did get their first look at T’challa’s homeland of Wakanda in one of the post credit scenes ofCaptain America: Civil War.

Civil Waris anaction filmthat has already been praised by fans and critics alike, although we’ll have to wait and see how much moreCaptain America 3will make at the box office. It’s still far behind Marvel’s top-grossing movie, 2012’sThe Avengers, which earned $623.3 million domestically and $1.5 billion worldwide. While there’s a chance it may surpass the worldwide mark, it seems unlikely that it will beatThe Avengers' domestic take, which is the fifth highest of all time.

Very little has been revealed aboutBlack Pantheryet, and we don’t know if the costume we saw inCaptain America: Civil Warwill get an upgrade for the standalone movie. As of now,Chadwick Bosemanis the only confirmed cast member, but hopefully we’ll have more official casting announcements in the back half of this year. Lupita Nyong’o is currently in talks to play the female lead, and Michael B. Jordan is ready to sign on as the villain. While we wait for more onBlack Panther, take a look at this concept art fromJerad S. Marantzbelow.
