One of the earliest rumors swirling aroundBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicewas that it would introduce Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to the rest of theJustice League,Aquaman(Jason Momoa),The Flash(Ezra Miller) andCyborg(Ray Fisher). With the movie hitting theaters nationwide today, one question on fans' minds is who actually assembles theJustice League?Yahoo! Movies UKspoke withZack Snyder, who revealed the character bringing this superhero team together. Here’s what he had to say, comparing this journey to the Akira Kurosawa classic Seven Samurai.
“I’m getting ready to startJustice Leagueon the 11th of April, so in like two weeks we startshooting, and it’s an intense, awesome, and gigantic undertaking becauseBruce [Wayne]is having to go out and sort of ‘Seven Samurai’ theJustice Leaguetogether, which is fun. It’s slightly monumental, and at the same time they’re starting to grapple with this coming threat.”
Seven Samurai is widely considered one of the most influential films of all time, following a village that brings in a group ofsamuraiwarriors to help them fight off a group of bandits. The concept has been used in a number of other classic films throughout the years, fromThe Magnificent Sevento Pixar’s A Bug’s Life. It seems thatBatmanwill go on a bit of a journey to bring theJustice Leaguetogether.
We know all the aforementioned characters will be in Justice League Part 1, along withAmy Adamsas intrepid reporter Lois Lane, but it isn’t known yet ifJesse Eisenbergwill be back asLex Luthor. The site also spoke withJesse Eisenberg, who didn’t seem to know if his nefarious character would return, but did tease that he could shed his evil ways in the future. Here’s what he had to say.
“He has a real righteous sense of conviction, so he could turn the corner, reforming. He’s dogmatic more than he’s evil.”
Justice League Part 1 is shooting at Leavesden studios in southeast England, and will utilize on-location shoots in London and Iceland. Contrary to believe,Justice League Part 2will not shoot back-to-back with Part 1. But it is staying put on the DCEU release schedule for 2019. It will arrive after solo movies forThe FlashandAquamanin 2018. These movies will be followed byCyborg, starringRay Fisher, in 2020 andGreen Lantern Corps., which doesn’t have any actors attached yet. There is also a rumoredUntitled Batman Rebootthat will allegedly debut sometime before 2020, to be co-written and directed byBen Affleck, but that has never been confirmed by Warner Bros. and DC.
