Lokiseason 2 is likely the most anticipatedMCU show on Disney+. The first season was so popular that it may have helped shape the coming MCU phases. Tom Hiddleston is naturally amazing as Loki, keeping the villain-turned-hero in the MCU for the foreseeable future. But the protagonist’s excellent performance was almost subject to the show-stealing awesomeness of Owen Wilson in his role as Mobius.

As fans of the show will remember, Mobius was the empathetic but intelligent detective that played a sort of mentor role for Loki in the series. Despite a series of dramatic events, we were assured of his return in the second season at the end of the last episode.

One of Mobius’ most endearing qualities was his strange fascination with jet skis. He explained to Loki that the jet ski represented the perfect combination of form and function. AndMobius’s love of jet skiswas the seed that grew to reveal that Mobius was actually a variant. Now, as we excitedly await the next season, we’re eating up all the information we can get about it.Loki’s second season is currently filming, and a little leaked video holds a hint for Mobius’s glorious quest for a jet ski.

Why We Love Mobius

Lokihad an incredible cast of characters, from Sylvie’s (Sophia Di Martino) indomitable will in her pursuit to free herself from fate, to Ravonna’s (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) unquestioning allegiance to the Time Keepers that turns into a dangerous power grab. But Loki’s relationship with Mobius was definitely a highlight of the series.

Mobius was a kind, reasonable rock to land on in Loki’s stormy sea of being plucked from his timeline. Not only was Loki just dropped in front of a strange extra-planar justice system that wanted to kill him, but the disorientation from just discovering that different timelines exist must have been mind-boggling. Through all that, he was lucky to have Mobius there to guide him through it. He was a very necessary character to have in Loki’s corner, if only to explain the chaos of the conflict that Loki just got dropped into.

But despite how necessary Mobius was, the best role he might have played in the story was one of character development. Remember, the Loki in the series is the one from the firstAvengersmovie. He had a huge ego and foolishly narrow scope on the universe until Mobius showed up. He sat Loki down, and in the space of ten minutes was able to grow his character and expand his worldview to a point that took the original Loki years to get to.

When we began to explore who Mobius was a little more, we found out that one thing he wanted more than anything else in the world was a jet ski. And despite the character’s heroic fate, Loki eventually landed in a timeline with a Mobius variant that had no relationship with Loki at all. Now that we know for certain thatOwen Wilson will return for season 2, will this be Loki’s chance to save his friend?

Mobius on a Jet Ski…Finally!

With fans having cheered for Mobius to get his jet ski since the series started, we now know that indeed there will be jet skis involved in the next season. A video leaked by an Instagram account of an innocent bystander shows crew members filming a shot of what looks like Tom Hiddleston impersonating, well, one of those blow-up tube men you see in front of car dealerships.

That’s right, the video is of Tom Hiddleston acting like a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man. At least that’s what it looks like. It’s possible he could becasting powerful magicand the shot is just missing the CGI.

Loki’s path to finding Mobius’ free will might be difficult, and so it would seem right to use a jet ski to try and wake him up. This might take them both to the early ’90s, the time Mobius referenced in season 1, and there find the right jet ski to unlock Mobius’s mind. Of course, it’s always possible that the jet ski might only come in as a cameo and not really be relevant to the plot. Either way, it seems that jet skis will have at least some kind of role in the series, even if they’re just used as a nod to the Mobius character.
