WillMatt DamonjoinBen Affleckin the upcomingBatman Reboot? The actor is currently out making the rounds for his latest movieJason Bourne. He has reunited with directorPaul Greengrassfor the fifth installment of that franchise, which is a pretty big deal. Inevitably, the subject of playing a superhero came up. And apparentlyDamonis not opposed to the idea, as long as his friend andGood Will Huntingpartner is behind it.

Matt Damonwas speaking with JoBlo during the course of his press tour, and revealed that he is actually open to playing a superhero. It just has to be under the right circumstances. Those circumstances just so happen to include his BFFBen Affleck. Who just happens to be directing a new standaloneBatmanmovie that he will star in and co-write. Here is what he had to say.

“I’d consider anything with the right director, but I can’t imagine there are any superheroes left, I think they’re all taken at this moment. If [Ben Affleck] was directing me, I’d jump on it in a New York minute. I’d love to work with Ben. The problem with Ben is every time he directs a movie, he gives himself the best role in it, so until he’s willing to give up the best role to one of his friends, we’re not going to get on with it.”

Damonwas clearly poking a little bit of fun atAffleckand wasn’t making any serious accusations about him taking the best roles from other actors. It is true though thatAffleckdoes tend to wind up in the lead in his movies, such asArgo,The Townand eventually in his soloBatman movie. It would definitely be interesting to see the two team up with one another again in this particular capacity.

Damondid joke that there are no superheroes left for him to play, and he isn’t the only Hollywood creative to make that joke recently.Nicolas Winding Refnrecently made a similar comment before stating that he would like to make aBatgirlmovie. Comic book fans and studios know that there are plenty ofsuperheroesleft, but a lot of the A-list roles are gone, that much is true. There were many jokes made aboutMatt Damonplaying the Robin toBen Affleck’s Batman when it was announced he was taking on the role of the Caped Crusader, but that is definitely not going to happen.

DamonandAffleckhave been working together ever since they wrote and starred inGood Will Huntingtogether, and they have continued to work together ever since. They recently revivedProject Greenlighton HBO, as well as working together on their online reality seriesThe Runner. If the stars align, the two could wind up working together on a superhero movie together at some point down the line, but we probably shouldn’t count on it.Jason Bourneis set for release on July 29.
