The upcoming horror outing,Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, will turn the beloved children’s characters into slasher killers, and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey already have their sights on doing the same toBambi. Speaking withVariety, Jeffrey revealed that he has already begun prepping his horror take on the Disney classic, describing the project as “Jurassic ParkmeetsBambi.” Which sounds like the cinematic combination we never knew we needed.
Co-producer and Jagged Edge co-founder Scott Jeffrey will direct theBambimovie, and while further details regarding the project remain under wraps for now, he has discussed the idea before.Likening what they have in mind to the 2017 Netflix horror-mystery,The Ritual. “The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love,” Jeffrey revealed last year. “Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”
So,Bambi-meets-The-Ritual-meets-Jurassic-Park? With this trio of monster movies in mind,it’s not too difficult to imagine what the minds behindWinnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honeyhave in storefor the sweet little deer. Who is unlikely to be very sweet for very long once Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey get their hands on him.

Before they soak Bambi in blood and guts, they will first give this grim treatment to Pooh inWinnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. A twisted retelling of the A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’sWinnie-the-Poohbooks,Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honeyfinds the likes of Pooh and Piglet as you’ve never seen them before.On a slasher rampage and covered in blood. As every child knows, Christopher Robin befriended Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, and their friends, playing games and providing them with food. What we all don’t know, however, is that as he grew, these visits became more infrequent, as did the food supply, causing Pooh and the others to grow increasingly hungry and desperate.
When Christopher went off to college, his visits to the Hundred Acre Wood stopped completely, causing Pooh and Piglet to become completely feral and unhinged. Which sadly resulted in Eeyore getting killed and eaten at some point. Now, Christopher Robin has returned to the forest alongside his new wife, hoping to introduce her to his old friends. Unfortunately for them, Pooh and Piglet will not forgive that easily, with the pair going on a murderous rampage for human flesh as they antagonize a group of university girls occupying a rural cabin.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honeywill now receive an expanded theatrical release courtesy of Fathom Events, Altitude Film Distribution, Cineplex Entertainment, and Cinemex, and will screen from Jul 16, 2025, to Jul 28, 2025.A sequel is now in development.
