Ever sinceWonder Womanstarted production in November, the movie has been shrouded in secrecy, but we have seen a handful ofphotosand videos from the set. While the main cast members have been confirmed, some have wondered if the originalWonder WomanTV series starLynda Carterwould be involved in the production in some way. While promoting his new movieThe Finest Hours, in theaters January 29,Chris Pinewas asked if the actress would have a cameo role in the movie, but he wouldn’t say one way or another.
“If I could tell you that, I wouldn’t, but I can’t.”
Of course, it’s possible he’s being so secretive because the actress does in fact have acameoin the movie, but she hasn’t been spotted on the set yet and her appearance has not been confirmed. The production recently castConnie NielsenasWonder Woman’s mother,Hippolyta, so that’s one role we know is filled that can’t be portrayed by Lynda Carter. When asked about his experiences on the film so far,Chris Pinehad this to say.
“It’s a great. It’s a great story. I love that we’re shooting it on film, which is a beautiful, beautiful thing.Gal Gadot, who is playing Wonder Woman, is beautiful and supremely talented and strong. The story is really one that I think needs to be out there. The simple fact of the matter is that it’s about a woman who is so strong with such physical capability, who can kick so much ass, but, really, at the end of the day, leads with so much compassion and love and hope for humanity. I think we need a lot of that right now.”
Chris Pineis playing the title character’s love interest, Steve Trevor, along withEwen Bremner,Robin Wright,David Thewlis,Danny Huston,Elena Anaya,Lucy Davisand Saïd Taghmaoui. No details have been given for the rest of the supporting cast quite yet. There have also been rumors thatSean BeanandEva Greenwere playing the mainvillainsAres and Circe, but their involvement hasn’t been confirmed either.
Patty Jenkins(Monster) is directing Wonder Woman from a screenplay byJason Fuchs(Pan), withCharles Roven,Zack SnyderandDeborah Snyderproducing.
