The mutants are fighting harder than ever for their survival in the new trailer for the three-part finale ofX-Men ‘97. The animated Marvel series has been met with much acclaim since debuting last month, with this new footage teasing the intense drama and fierce action that has astounded audiences so far. The three-part finale begins withTolerance is Extinction: Part 1, which premieres on May 1 on Disney+, followed byTolerance is Extinction: Part 2on May 8 and finally,Tolerance is Extinction: Part 3on May 15.

Following the shocking revelation at the end of episode 7, that Charles Xavier is, in fact, alive, The X-Men find themselves facing a deadly new version of the Sentinels, robots designed for one thing: to hunt and kill mutants. X-Men ‘97follows a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them. The series picks up after the events ofX-Men: The Animated Series, and sees the X-Men battling dangerous new challenges following the loss of their leader, Professor X.

X-Men Writer Weighs in on ‘Woke’ Debate, Suggests Name Change: ‘Calling Them X-Men Is So 1960s’

Renowned X-Men writer Chris Claremont thinks it is now time for the Marvel superhero team to change their name.

To help prep for the finale, formerX-Men ‘97showrunner Beau DeMayo (who was unceremoniously firedfrom the series just a few weeks before the premiere), has taken to X/Twitter to revealwhich episodes of the original seriesaudiences should check out before the first season of the revival concludes.

X-Men ‘97has been a huge hit with both critics and audiences alike, with a second season now in production and a third in early development. Co-composer Taylor Newton Stewart has teased the return, declaring that season 2 will “up the ante.”

“We’re working on season two. But we haven’t started yet. I know a little bit of the storylines and characters. It’s always upping the ante. I mean, it’s pretty intense what happens. Yeah, immediately when I was told, I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, what’s happening? This is incredible.’ So, just as a fan alone, I am very excited.”

The first episode of the upcoming three-part finale ofX-Men ‘97,Tolerance is Extinction: Part 1, is due to debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 14, 2025.
